Know before you start

How Hydroquinone 5%/Retinoic Acid 0.1%/Hydrocortisone 2.5%/Ascorbic Acid 2% treatment works

How it works

Prescription skin treatment uses clinically established actives — tretinoin to accelerate cell turnover and stimulate collagen, hydroquinone and azelaic acid for pigment, compounded together at strengths matched to your skin.

What to expect

  • Weeks 1–4: 'retinization' — mild dryness, flaking, or purging is normal.
  • Weeks 6–12: texture, tone, and breakouts visibly improve.
  • Months 3+: collagen-level changes (fine lines, firmness) become apparent.

Common side effects

  • Dryness, redness, and peeling during the first weeks
  • Increased sun sensitivity (daily SPF is required)
  • Temporary purging of breakouts

Safety & who it's not for

Tretinoin and hydroquinone are not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Use sunscreen daily. Your clinician will review your routine and adjust strength as your skin adapts.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use it with my current skincare?

Usually yes, with sequencing guidance — but avoid layering other strong actives (AHAs, benzoyl peroxide) at the same time of day. Your clinician will map your routine.

When do I apply it?

At night, on dry skin, a pea-sized amount for the whole face. Less is more — using extra increases irritation, not results.
